The best method of storage is in a cool, dry location closed. Refrigeration should only be used when room temperature exceeds 27 degrees Celsius

Bare Blends' whey protein products have an 24 month shelf life from date of manufacture. The expiration date is clearly listed on the package. We are commited to keeping our batch sizes small to ensure maximum freshness of our products.

Serving Size

Our serving sizes are an estimate for the average person, however each individual will have different requirement for their optimal protein consumption. You may wish to experiment with the serving size until you find a quantity that suits you.

  • For people consuming whey for weight management, consume 20-30g per serving
  • For athletes aiming to increase lean muscle mass, or participating in strenuous exercise, consume 35g or more, ideally after exercise.


No, absolutely not. Whey protein has long been the protein of choice for athletes and body builders because it is the most easily absorbed, purest source of complete protein available. But this is important for everyone, not just athletes and body builders, and can be incorporated to almost any diet to support a healthy lifestyle!

Whey promotes fat loss by enhancing the release of glucagon (which builds muscle and burns fat) and by inhibiting the release of insulin (which encourages fat storage). Also, protein digestion burns more calories than digesting carbohydrates or fats. Although it is possible to “bulk” using whey protein, this is achieved by consuming several shakes a day in addition to a calorie rich diet.

Meal replacement

Combine Bare Blends with some fruit, a highly nutritious milk like a nut or oat milk and some coconut oil, and you have yourself a delicious meal replacement that will keep you full for hours. Keep in mind that a well balanced diet of wholefoods and fresh greens is still needed for optimal health.

Superfoods have a much higher vitamin, mineral and phytonutrient content than typically available foods. The recently developed current mass production agricultural methods have resulted in many of our foods to be lacking in these (for reasons such as breeding for conformity and visual appeal, rather than taste and nutrition), making our superfoods an easy way to to get a healthy shot of essential nutrients at a low calorie count.

While not certified organic, our whey has all the advantages of 100% natural pastures. The milk for our whey proteins is derived from cows that are grass-fed and graze year-round on natural pastures. They are guaranteed to be GMO-free, hormone-treatment-free, pesticide -free and undergo minimal processing.

Due to regulation, all commercial powdered dairy products are legally required to undergo heat pasteurization in order to be sold. The whey used in our products is minimally processed using low heat resulting in the full range of biologically active protein components to be maintained in their native forms, particularly in our Native WPI which is filtered directly from fresh skimmed milk, unlike the typical cheese byproduct used which often involves triple pasteurization.

Soy protein is derived from soybeans, which are legumes (a source of carbohydrates). The protein from soy is lacking in one of the essential amino acids, methionine, essential for mood and detoxification. Many of the soy protein powders have added this amino acid making them complete,however hexane and other toxic chemicals that are not safe for the body are used in processing. Furthermore soy protein is not easily absorbed by our bodies, giving it a low biological value. This means that a significant percentage of the protein passes through the body unused. Soy has also been linked to increased estrogen levels. Whey protein has a superior amino acid profile (and taste!) to most vegetable proteins, and is easily digested by most people.

Whey can help with the protein levels that may be lacking in a vegetarian diet. There are no involvements with any animal flesh or meat and therefore is acceptable in the lacto and lacto-ovo vegetarian diets. A lacto vegetarian will eat dairy products but not eggs and a lacto-ovo vegetarian will eat dairy products and eggs, but not meat, fish or poultry. An ovo vegetarian however will eat eggs but not dairy products. Whey in this instance is not really suitable in accordance with the guidelines of this particular type of vegetarian diet. An alternative option if you do not want to consume dairy products may be to take a vegetable protein instead.

Whey protein consumed directly before meals can reduce post-meal glucose spikes.

The insulinotropic effect of whey proteins may potentially attenuate the postprandial blood glucose excursions over the day. The ability to amplify insulin secretion by specifically tailored amino acid mixtures is under investigation, and this approach may have fewer adverse effects than the commonly used therapeutic agents.
