Christmas is the time for indulging in delicious foods.
But traditional Christmas snacks involve chocolate and dessert-like treats that contain a lot of sugar and no nutritional value.
Thankfully, the Bare Blends team have come up with a few festive recipes that won’t add unnecessary calories, or accidentally give you a sugar high.
These are refined-sugar free, gluten-free, raw, and have the addition of nutritious superfoods to boost your energy levels and your mood.
These healthy Christmas treats will be a highlight at any party this festive season.
1. Add the almonds and sunflower seeds to the food processor and blitz for one minute. 2. Next, add the remaining ingredients, and blitz thoroughly until the ingredients have combined and formed a ball. 3. Using your hands, roll little truffle sized balls of the mixture. I made about 20. 4. Once you have rolled them all, pop them in the fridge. If you are coating them in the spiced-cacao coating, mix together the cacao and spice, and roll each truffle in the mixture. 5. If you are feeling extra fancy, drizzle them with the melted white chocolate. You could also add a few drops of peppermint extract or freeze dried raspberries to the truffle mix for extra festivity feels. They keep well in the fridge or freezer in an airtight container.
1. To make the tart shells, blend the cashew nuts and Chia Seeds in a food processor until you get fine crumbs. Add the Bare Whey protein, rice malt syrup and coconut oil and blend until everything is well combined. 2. Divide the mixture up into 8 balls and press each ball into a non-stick silicone mini muffin tray (or a solid mini muffin tray lined with patty pans to allow for removal). Set aside in the fridge or freezer until firm. 3. While the tart shells are firming up, mix the coconut cream and Bare Berries powder together in a bowl until well combined and smooth. Cover and set aside in the fridge until ready to serve. 4. Once the tart shells are set, pop them out of the silicone tray and place on a serving dish. Just before serving, spoon the berry filling into the tart shells and top with a raspberry. Enjoy straight away. * Leave a 400ml can of coconut cream (look for an organic one if possible) in the fridge overnight. The cream will separate leaving the thick portion at the top of the can and the liquid portion at the bottom. Carefully spoon out the thick portion to use in the recipe (you can use up the liquid potion by adding it to a smoothie!).
1. Blend nuts and spices in a high powered blender, scraping down the sides until a powder consistency 2. Add the Bare Blends protein and 500ml of milk and blend 3. Enjoy!
