Give us a brief character description of each other.

Oscar: Ry is very hardworking, very logical, and a very good chef.

Ryan: Oscar is creative, a graphically inclined individual. He's got a very good mind for what people like.

What are your earliest memories of food?

Oscar: Chocolate mudcake, at a cafe where I was growing up.

Ryan: Dad used to host work dinners of 20-30 people at home, so we'd start cooking at 10 o'clock in the morning and not finish until 12 o'clock at night. It'd be a solid 14 hours of cooking, including clean down. That's what really started my love of food.

You guys are now game changers in the food industry, how does that make you feel?

Ryan: I'm personally not really that concerned with the industry, but more on how we can change people's individual views on products and nutrition.

Oscar: Ditto that.

How do you develop and source your products?

Oscar: We source the ingredients from international sellers or domestic sellers and then we experiment until we come up with a formula that has an excellent nutritional profile, and also an excellent taste.

Ryan: And for every ingredient we'll purchase between three and six of the recognised top-quality regions for that ingredient and different manufacturers, and test them out individually until we come to one that we think is the best.

Why is eating organically so important?

Oscar: Apart from not being sprayed with synthetic pesticides, which you invariably end up consuming, organic farming helps return soil to its natural state.

What do you do for fun?

Ryan: I like to surf, when the weather's warm. I do lots of gardening at home, I grow lots of my own fruit and veges. That's one lucky part about living in Byron Bay, we've got such good climatic conditions to grow things.

Oscar: I like to read about sciencey things, I also like to be outdoors doing any type of activity really.

What is your idea of adventure?

Oscar: Going to a place that I've never been to before.

Ryan: Going to a place where there's not a lot of other people, and you truly feel like you're with the world, or you're against the world, depending on your outlook.

'I'm personally not really that concerned with the industry, but more on how we can change people's individual views on products and nutrition.'

How important is it to maintain a healthy lifestyle?

Oscar: It's number one on my list. If you have a healthy lifestyle, everything else falls into place.

What helps you stay on top of your game?

Ryan: Bare Greens does. It's a nutritional kick in the morning. You know you're getting all the nutrition, along with the added benefits from the matcha green tea and the caffeine. It makes you more productive and healthier in general.

Oscar: I'm going to have to say Bare Greens as well. I can't live without it. And also regular intense exercise.

Time to spill the beans: which of you is the messiest?

Ryan: Oscar is the messiest. Oscar is frequently known to come into the office in the morning with half a coffee spilled down his shirt.

Oscar: I may spill some things, but I put that down to clumsiness, not messiness.

Who is the laziest?

Ryan: That'd be me.

Who is the better cook?

Oscar: Ryan

Who is better at table tennis?

Ryan: Me

Oscar: Me

What is your favourite Bare Blends smoothie?

Ryan: Currently it's the Peanut Butter and Jam Smoothie that we've just released in our smoothie bar.

Oscar: Bare Greens. If you forget to have your greens in the morning, it gives you that, plus it keeps you going mid-morning.

If you were a superfood, what would you be?

Ryan: Oscar would be maca powder – strong hormonal effects.

Oscar: Ryan would be a shiitake mushroom powder. Because he enjoys the darkness.

Kind of like Luke Skywalker?

Oscar: Exactly.

What's in store over the next year at Bare Blends?

Ryan: World domination

Oscar: World domination. But also, bringing out new and innovative products which will excite our loyal customers. We're also working on making our products more accessible around the world.
